Rebus is a Scottish Detective in Edinburgh, the main character of author Ian Rankin’s series of books; Noughts and Crosses is the first book in that series.

A rebus is a puzzle and Noughts and Crosses is known as the puzzle game Tic-Tac-Toe on this side of the pond!
